Kursk State Medical University was established in 1935 and is supported by the Russian Government, registered with the Ministry of Public Health of the Russian Federation. It is consistently listed among the top 10 medical universities in Russia for its quality education, research and healthcare, and was the first institution in Russia to begin graduation courses in English medium for foreign students.

The university gained full university status in 1994 and has since grown into a multidisciplinary medical university with an emphasis on creative research and high-quality infrastructure.
