Founded in 1930, Ural State Medical University (USMU) is a cornerstone of medical education in Yekaterinburg, in the Ural region of Russia. From a humble beginning with one faculty and 100 students, it is now home to more than 6,000 students from around the world.

It was awarded Academy status in 1995 and elevated to a full-scale university in 2013. A public university funded and directed by the Ministry of Health, USMU is one of the leading universities for medical education in Russia and was among the top 10 medical schools in Russia in 2017-18.
